As the school year progresses, the excitement for prom night is starting to build up. Prom is one of the biggest events of the school year, and it is essential to stay informed about all the details surrounding it.
First and foremost, it is important to know the date and time of prom. This year, prom will be held on April 15th, from 8 PM to 10:30 PM. The location for the event is Mission Mill, formally known as the Willamette Heritage Center.
“It is the biggest place in Salem that we can afford.” Head of the prom committee, Kathy August said.
Another piece of information to keep in mind is the dress code for the event. It is important to dress appropriately for the occasion, and the dress code for prom is formal attire. This means that button up shirts, gowns, suits and ties, and dresses are recommended.
“It is a formal event, most kids wear a tuxedo or suit and long dresses, but pretty much we try not to tell kids what to wear,” August said.
It is vital to purchase tickets well in advance. Ticket sales will begin on April 3rd for seniors and April 10th for Juniors. Tickets will be available for purchase in the school center during school hours. The cost of admission tickets will be $25 per person.
It is also important to remember that prom is a school-sponsored event, which means that all school rules and policies apply. Students should make sure to follow all guidelines regarding behavior and conduct, as any violation of school policies may result in consequences.
“I think prom is something that everybody looks forward to in highschool and if you remember that prom is about coming and celebrating with all your friends and people it can be an exciting time but also it can be very scary for some kids. So what’s different about our prom is a lot of the time our kids will go to prom as a group rather than couples, because they feel more comfortable that way. It’s always fun, it’s always a fun night,” August said.
