@_LeImages_ was created by Laura Ellison. She is a local photographer who also takes photos for South Salem High School and at other athletic events. Laura has been taking photos for 15 years. She has taken photos for weddings, engagements, families and quinceaneras but her favorite is taking photos of athletes competing.
“I have always loved photography. I enjoy capturing special moments and having memories to look back on,” Ellison said.
“I have been given the opportunity to photograph Salem/Keizer sporting events through OSAA, Full Access Sports, KBZY Radio Gilman on Sports, Capital City Classic, State Playoffs for West Salem High School at the Chiles Center, and I’m currently media for 7on7 IBC Oregoonz,” Ellison said after being asked what opportunities have been presented to her because of photography.
She has also made many experiences that she would not have been able to make if she wasn’t a photographer like meeting new people from all different aspects of life.
“It is amazing to be a part of the community and doing something that will boost the confidence of our young athletes,” Ellison said.
When asked what is her favorite part about being a photographer she responded “Seeing the smile on athletes’ faces when they see their pictures. They are mini celebrities.” Ellison Said.
Other than being a photographer she is also a wife with two kids and works a full-time job. She says she is able to balance all of it because her whole family enjoys sports and are very supportive. They also like to come with her to events. Laura has many dreams but one of her many dreams is to one day be given the opportunity to photo shoot for college and professional sporting events.
“They sometimes give me a funny look when I tell them I will be on a NFL sideline one day. But I am okay with that because I believe through hard work anything can be accomplished. I’m persistent, determined, and passionate. When I set my mind to do something I will go for it even through challenging obstacles,” Ellison said.
Some advice Laura would give to the readers would be “If there is something you want to do, do it. Don’t be afraid to talk to people. Create opportunities,” Ellison said.
