High school may feel intimidating, but with the right guidance, navigating freshman year can be made a lot more simple.
School is Important
Unlike middle school, high school grades do have an impact on the college admissions process. For college students, they take into consideration all of the student’s academic accomplishments in regards to the entire high school career. This meaning, even with someone getting acclimated to a standard, it’s good to stay on top of work. At South Salem High School there are plenty of options if extra help is needed, but with that a student does need a sense of self discipline to ask for help. Even if a student is not wishing to pursue college, the level of responsibility that is curated when attending high school will carry on throughout one’s life. School strengthens the development of cognitive skills and good work ethic, preparing students for adulthood where these roles are implemented harshly in society.
Take Care of Mental Health
It’s important to take education seriously, but it is just as important to consider mental health. At times it may feel overwhelming with school stacked up on other activities. It is crucial that a person takes care of themselves first and foremost. A good attitude and mentality will show in everything a student does and if a break is needed, someone should always take that break. School work getting done should not be at the expense of one’s mental health.
Stay Organized
Procrastination is a very common trait of a high school student. Generally it’s never the intended choice, but distractions come up separating the person from the want to do their work. Planning the day according to everything that needs to get done helps prevent developing schoolwork induced stress. schoolwork can be used from high school and beyond.
With the new school year ahead, school is crucial to stay focused and on top of. It’s important to remember that as the school year progresses so will a student. School will become more manageable and resources will be readily available if needed for everyfFreshman.
