The girl’s varsity soccer team took on the Corvallis Spartans last Tuesday night.

The first half began with both teams having chances on the goal but the game remained at a 0-0 stalemate. That was until in the 36’ when Sophomore Lauren Hines scored her first goal to put the Saxons up 1-0. The score remained 1-0 as the referee blew for halftime.

Saxons were first to score early in the second half with a stunning long-shot goal in the 47’ by Senior Avery Anunsen to make it 2-0.  Just minutes later the Spartans got one back with a 49’ plan to make it 2-1.

In the game’s last minutes, the Spartans had a chance to equalize, but due to a save by the Saxons keeper, they could pull off their first win of the season in a 2-1 victory over the Corvallis Spartans.
