On the campus of South Salem High School there is a “Saxon Closet” filled with food, clothes and personal hygiene products for those in need.
The room is mostly anonymous, there is no name needed in order to access the room. If needed to access the room, Mrs. August, a teacher at South Salem High School who manages the Saxon Closet has the key for access to the room. The room is one person at a time and completely private. Supplies like clothes, shoes, non-perishable food and much more can be found in the room.
If students can not find what they are looking for they are allowed to make a request on a google form. Specific requests will require a name. Students can also tell a trusted adult that works at South Salem High School for anything needed. Requested items will be delivered to the students who asked for them.
People who are interested in helping out with the Saxon Closet can make clothing/food donations or even donate gift cards as this can also help students’ families and not just the student. Gift cards and donations can be brought to advisory classes. For more information, please contact Mrs. August.
