Top Five Best Christmas Movies of All Time

The holiday season is coming up, so students will have much free time. There is no better way to spend it than watching Christmas movies. This is an opinion everyone can agree on. Here is a list of my top five favorite Christmas movies that will give an idea of what to watch this upcoming holiday season.

1) “Elf” (2003)

“Elf” is a Christmas classic in my house and many others. It is the perfect movie to come home and watch after a long day. It has the right amount of comedy and storyline to make it the ideal family movie. I have many memories of watching this movie with my family. Over the years, watching this movie during the holidays has become a tradition. “Elf” has an 86% on Rotten Tomatoes, proving it is enjoyable.

2) “Christmas Vacation” (1989)

“Christmas Vacation” is part of the seven-movie franchise “Vacation.” Out of all seven movies, “Christmas Vacation” is my favorite. It always makes me laugh, from the actual film to all the memes across social media, It is so funny. “Christmas Vacation” is enjoyable for all generations and gives parents and kids something to bond over.

3) “Christmas with the Kranks” (2004)

Despite having a 5% on Rotten Tomatoes, do not be deceived by the poor rating. “Christmas with the Kranks” is a light-hearted family movie with many comedic lines such as “we look like uncooked chicken” and “I look like my mother. She’s been dead for fifteen years…” It has a well-written storyline that is different from other comedy Christmas movies. It is not a traditional Christmas movie, making it better than what people consider to be more iconic.

4) “A Charlie Brown Christmas” (1965)

Made in 1965 and only 30 minutes long, “A Charlie Brown Christmas” utilizes a short amount of time to tell the story.  It was the first Peanuts TV special based on the comic strip to come out. Not only was it the first special, but it is also the best. This is the type of movie grandparents and parents can watch. This movie has been with families for generations and will continue to be around for generations.

5) “Love Hard” (2021)

Although romance Christmas movies are not my cup of tea, “Love Hard” is my only exception. It is a good mix of comedy and romance without the romance getting overbearing. “Love Hard” is one of those movies that only gets better and can easily be watched over and over again.
