Look to the Sky: Bringing Back Oregon’s International Airshow

Oregon Airshow

The Oregon International Airshow had its first show of the 2025 season, which started May 17 and continued through the weekend. The airshow took place at the Hillsboro airport, which hosts one of the two airshows that occur every year, with the following one being held in McMinnville.

The airshow featured F15C Eagle/F15EX Eagle II’s from the 142nd Fighter Wing in Portland. The show will also feature some lighter aerobatic aircraft, which will perform stunts and tricks over the course of the show. Two of the highlights of the show were the United States Air Force’s (USAF) F35A Demo Team. This is the most advanced fighter plane in the USAF. The closing performer, the Patriot Jet Team, used L-39 jets. They flew in formation as well as two solo jets that performed opposing maneuvers together.

The next Oregon International Airshow will be held at McMinnville during September. The Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) Snowbirds will be performing as one of the main performers. Following the 142nd Air National Guard’s F15C Eagle and new F15EX Eagle II’s. There will also be the USAF’s F16 Viper demonstration team.  Next year at McMinnville, the airshow will bring back the Navy’s Blue Angels aerobatic team. The airshow last featured the Blue Angels in 2023.
