Last Saturday, September 26th “Hoa Hoa Hoa Day” took place to honor the “Twilight” movie saga. The event took place at the Reed Opera House in downtown Salem from 11-5. The event was created to commemorate the iconic movies, some of which were filmed in Oregon.
Event Setup
This event was hosted by the Awkward Peach Boutique, located in the Reed Opera House. The boutique sells unique items of all nature, including clothes, accessories, stickers and jewelry. At this particular event, guests were able to get the full “Twilight” experience. The visitors guide included picture opportunities with a cardboard cutout of Edward Cullen and a ‘Welcome to Forks’ sign, exclusive “Twilight” merchandise, and a screening of the entire franchise.
“The event is designed to bring together longtime fans, curious newcomers and local shoppers for a day that celebrates the fandom, while supporting Salem’s small business community.” said The Awkward Peach on their TikTok. “‘Hoa Hoa Day’ taps into the fall tradition by giving fans a place to make new memories while celebrating a story they still love.”
Thoughts From the Fandom
“Twilight” superfan Marlee Flores ‘27 attended the event with high expectations.
“The event was really fun! It had everything a Twilight fan (like myself) could want! There were cardboard cutouts of Bella, Edward, and Jacob that I took pictures with. There were multiple booths and stores selling Twilight merch. There was a dirty soda bar and “skin of a killer” cupcakes that were really good.” said Flores.
