Saxon Strong: South wins 47-7 against Jefferson Democrats

The South Salem Saxons beat the Jefferson Democrats 47-7 on Friday Oct. 9 at Bennett Field. 

In the first quarter, Jaxon Birt ‘28 broke two tackles for a 20 yard receiving touchdown. With one minute and 26 seconds left in the first quarter Bridger Haider ‘28 rushed for a two yard touchdown to advance the Saxons to 14-0. 

With 11 minutes and 48 seconds left in the second quarter Samuel Johnson ‘27 records a 34 yard interception and converts for a touchdown. Cody Scharer ‘28 recovers a fumble and returns for a 73 yard touchdown. Jayden Regalado ‘28 records an interception, forcing a turnover. Benjamin Greer ‘27 and Johnson both record receiving touchdowns to close out the first half and extend the lead to 41-0.

The Saxons allowed a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, but maintained the lead and won 47-7. 

The Saxons stay undefeated and advance to 6-0. The Oregon School Activities Association ranks South 11th in the state. South’s next game is their Homecoming game, Oct. 16 against the Sprague Olympians at 7 p.m. at Bennett Field.
