At South Salem High School, the tradition of sponsoring a ‘sparrow child’ from Sparrow Clubs USA has been active since 2022. This year’s Saxon Sparrow is Sammy Hall, a blonde-haired six-year old girl who has cerebral palsy, a condition that affects movement, muscle tone, balance and posture. She will be introduced on November 21, at the Tuesday assembly during advisory.

Sparrow Club USA started in 1992, but was officially registered as a non-profit organization in 1994. Their goal is to empower children to help other children who are in need. They do this by reaching out and partnering with local schools and communities.

Sammy is homeschooled and spends a lot of time with her mom. As for her favorites, she loves the color red, loves the movie Frozen and the “Bluey” theme song. For athletics, she also enjoys playing soccer.
