Do Teenagers Spend Their Money on Reasonable Items?

As teenagers grow up, so do their interests. With this in mind, it is clear the students spend their money on a variety of items. According to takechargetoday.arizona.edu., a list of the most popular items that teens spend their money on range from perishables to entertainment.

The top response for what teenagers spend their money on is food and drinks. This consists of all food and drinks, whether it is for oneself, family or friends. Popular foods consist of spicy chips, candy and fast food. Drinks consist of energy drinks, soda and coffee. I like spicy chips above everything else but no judgment to the people who disagree.

The second most popular item is clothing and personal items. These items consist of shoes, clothes, face products, jewelry, makeup and other self care items. I personally think that some of these things are a pretty big waste of money. Makeup and shoes specifically because people really only need one or two pairs of shoes. With makeup, I understand buying lip gloss and mascara or things in that realm, but people are consistently overspending for those items.

The third most popular thing to buy is entertainment. The entertainment category is vast, consisting of CD’s, games, sports paraphernalia, books, hobbies and more. Many people buy these things for themselves to provide joy but others could also buy these items for others as gifts. I like to spend my money on books and hobbies. I like the author April Henry, who specializes in the mystery genre, as well as any mystery genre books.

These statistics show that teenagers will use their money to buy whatever they please, whether it is necessary or not. While I might not agree with everyone’s choices, I respect and understand them.
