The track and field athletic season begins on February 27th, 2023. The team has been holding preseason workouts since early January. Coach Roberson and Coach Murdoch encourage track athletes to come to preseason workouts because it will prepare you for the season.

Gibson Hanowell, a varsity triple jumper, was asked why preseason workouts are important to him and what workouts he does. He said,

“It gives me the opportunity to work harder than the rest of the schools and start the season better.”

“I do conditioning on the track 3 days a week and the other two days are hard weights sessions,”  Hanowell said.

These workouts can help you get back in athletic form to achieve your season goals.

Connor Stewart, 26’, was asked what his goals for this season are.

“My personal goals for this season are to improve my time on the 400 meters and to also run the 3k under 12 minutes,” said Stewart.

Another track athlete, Sawyer Alsum ‘24, said,

“I’m excited to break personal records and to try new things. Last season I participated in 100 meter sprints and long jump. I plan on continuing this and possibly adding the 200 meter race as well. My goals are to improve and have fun.”
