Career Technical Education Center, (CTEC), is a program offered to juniors and seniors at South Salem High School. The various career strands work alongside industry professionals and academics to acquire an advantage after high school. Students learn at school on some days of the week and on others bus to the CTEC main facility to focus on their work strand.
Sophomores can apply to be a part of this program – online through the Salem-Keizer CTEC website during the winter window. Applicants must be on track to graduate and enrolled at South Salem High School. More information will be available as the application deadline nears by the South Salem High School Career and College Center.
These work strands include manufacturing, welding, engineering, residential construction, cosmetology, auto-body repair and painting. It also includes drone technology, robotics, business development and leadership and law enforcement.
Students in this program looking for employment can benefit from CTEC’s resources. The CTEC center has a full-time counselor who helps students with applications, resumes, interviews and cover letters. By emailing Ms. Norma Sanchez at sanchez-bravo_norma@salkeiz.k12.or.us with their first and last name, CTEC Program, strongest technical skills, hours and wages needed, they can gain helpful career insight and opportunities.
