On September 8, 2026, South Saxons went against the Sunset Apollos. They played under the lights on Bennett Field at 7 p.m. After a tough battle, Saxons won with a score of 3-2.
Saxons fought, going back and forth in the first half. A penalty kick put the Saxons ahead, scored by Giovanni Solorzano ‘28. Abdiel Gonzalez Reyes ‘27 scored the second goal, giving the Saxons a head start for the majority of the half. By the end, each team scored two points, increasing pressure for the second half.
During the second half, the ball was stuck between the Saxons and Apollos. Neither team scored a goal for the majority of the time. Sebastian King-Widdall ‘28 fought hard to protect the goal and gave the Saxons a chance to win. Yet, Joseph Rosales Lopez ‘27 pulled a goal out with just seven minutes left, winning the game.
This win leaves the South Saxons with 2-1 entering their next away game on September 14 at 7 p.m. against Jesuit.
