On Sept. 18, 2026 the South Salem Saxons played the Century Jaguars on Bennett Field. South won with a score of 27 to 22.
South Salem came into this game ranked number three while Century was number 33.
Century started the game quickly with Cam Jorgensen ‘27 getting the first touchdown of the game only three minutes and 17 seconds into the game. This was quickly followed by an interception for the Jaguars one minute and 34 seconds later. Yet South fought back with Sam Johnson ‘27 getting a pick six making the field goal. Century responded by scoring a touch down and a two point conversion. South Salem’s Kellen Bowman ‘28 threw the ball to Kacedro Rogers ‘28 who fumbled it, giving the ball back to Century and allowing them to score. Continuing to fight, Bowman scored, ending the first half 22 to 20.
In the second half South Salem used their defense to their advantage. South started the half with Johnson getting an interception early leading setting Mateo Soto ‘28 up to score. South continued to hold their opponent back, winning the game.
Johnson got three interceptions during the game and one pick six, leading his team to a victory. South’s ranking in Oregon is now second and will play at McMinnville on Sept. 25, 2026.
